In recent month WhatsApp integrated more features to their app which was video call and as at that time it was been implemented only on WhatsApp beta build (2.16.318). It was announced recently that all users would now be able to make use of the feature.
WhatsApp developers in a statement today said “We’re introducing this feature because we know that sometimes voice and text just aren’t enough. There’s no substitute for watching your grandchild take her first steps, or seeing your daughter’s face while she’s studying abroad.”
To use the new feature, you hit the call button in the top right corner of a conversation, which will bring up an overlaid interstitial asking if you want to voice or video call the friend or family member you’re chatting with. To kick off the video call, you simply select the “video call” option from this screen.
During the call itself, you can switch between the forward-facing and rear camera, mute the call or press the red button to hang up.I tried out the Whatsapp video call today, and from my experience, what I can say is this: the video clarity is poor and same goes for the audio. It still didn’t satisfy me compared to the other apps that have video call. It is now available to everyone but not yet available on Google playstore for Nigeria
